INFRASTRUCTURE DELIVERY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME

IDIP KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

The Knowledge Management Process in the infrastructure delivery environment is facilitated through the identification of possible case studies and best practice methodologies with the help of:

  • Independent Reviews;.
  • Sectorial Knowledge Management community of practices;
  • The IDMS Risk system reports;
  • Quality Assurance Reports;
  • The Monitoring and Reporting systems that are utilised for infrastructure delivery; and
  • By using the IDMS and IDM Toolkit as basis for infrastructure delivery.

When these needs are appropriately addressed by means of mitigation interventions, which are captured in Case Studies and Beast Practice Methodologies, this information is made available and shared with other role players and stakeholders in the infrastructure environment.

Best Practice Methodologies and systems, developed as a result of the knowledge management process should be used by all infrastructure stakeholders and role players to enhance infrastructure service delivery.

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK FOR IDMS

Knowledge Management should be approached in a systematic manner to generate the full set of envisaged benefits. The critical success factors for knowledge Management are:

  • Enablers;
  • Levers;
  • Foundations;and
  • Knowledge Sharing process.

IDM RISK SYSTEM

The purpose of the IDM Risk System is to:

  • Identify risks related to the different expectations and needs of stakeholders involved in the infrastructure delivery process
  • Identify anything (positive or negative) that may affect the interaction between the external environment(opportunities and threats) and internal environment(strengths and weaknesses) in which infrastructure delivery takes place.
  • Monitor external and internal factors that may affect the institutionalisation of the IDMS
  • Identify the critical weaknesses/problem areas/risks that impact negatively on the IDMS. Capture and assess these risks with the help of the IDM Risk log.
  • Develop comprehensive risk mitigation plans/action plans for each of the critical risks identified.
